Thailand Reopening & Phuket Sandbox
What you should know about Thailand Reopening & Phuket Sandbox
Thailand Reopening - what program should I enter to Thailand by?
Thailand is simply welcoming visitors from around the world under different programs naming Test & Go, Business & Leisure Ultimate Experiences’ (Blue) Zone, and State Quarantine or Alternative State Quarantine Program. These depend on the vaccination as well as the departure destination that travellers are from.
Test & Go Program
Thailand is all set to welcome fully vaccinated foreign visitors quarantine-free, including returning Thais and foreign residents, from the approved countries to enter the Kingdom by air with no quarantine requirements from 1 November, 2021. Visitors are required to stay at a SHA plus hotel at least one night and to receive the test before and after the arrival flight. Please see the list of approved countries below.
For this scheme, travellers must have been in the approved countries for 21 days or more. Transit/transfer from the approved counties is not allowed. However, for returning Thais and foreign residents, it is not necessary to be in an approved country for 21 days or more, as long as they are travelling from Thailand to the approved country/s and return within the last 21 days. List of documents to prepare before registering for a Thailand Pass under Test & Go program are Passport, Thai Visa (if required), Certificate of Vaccination, Paid AQ / SHA+ hotel reservation confirmation (for the duration of 1 day and including the fee for one RT-PCR test), and an Insurance with minimum coverage of 50,000 USD
Business & Leisure Ultimate Experiences’ (Blue) Zone
For those who are not from the above approved countries on Test & Go program but fully vaccinated, you are still allowed to travel to Phuket under Business & Leisure Ultimate Experiences’ (Blue) Zone. Adapting from a pilot Phuket Sandbox project, this program allows fully vaccinated visitors from any remaining countries in the world to enter Phuket via flights under certain conditions with the focus on allowing tourists to move around Thailand freely after remaining in a SHA Plus hotel on Phuket for 7 nights without quarantine required. During the 7-night stay in Phuket, tourists are required to undergo one RT-PCR test on Day 0 (arrival date) and one ATK self-test on Day 6. After 7 nights stay in Phuket, visitors will be able to continue their journey to other parts of Thailand. For more details about this program, click here.
Alternative State Quarantine Program
As of now, the quarantine period will remain 7 days for travellers who have been fully vaccinated with the approved vaccine but not on the approved list of countries or not entering Thailand via a 7-night stay within Blue Zone including Phuket, 10 days for air arrivals who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 14 days for land arrivals who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. However, they will be able to enjoy more activities within the hotel. Please note that Amatara Wellness Resort is not an ASQ or ALSQ hotel. You can find the list of ASQ hotel from this link.
Amatara Wellness Resort is a SHA Plus certified hotel, so what is a SHA Plus Hotel?
'SHA Plus’ is a certification for companies/individuals who have received their ‘SHA’ certification ‘PLUS’ at least 70% of their workforce has been fully vaccinated. The Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration (SHA) certification has been certified by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) as being on par with the WTTC SafeTravels global health and hygiene standardised protocols.
